On the long weekend of May 11 to 13, movie-lovers flocked to the Globe Circuit Events Grounds to catch the best that Philippine indie cinema had on offer. It was the weekend that was Cine Circuit–Circuit Makati’s 3-day outdoor indie film festival.
In partnership with PBO, the festival featured a variety of films ranging from laugh-out-loud rom-coms to spine-chilling horror films, all from the vaults of Viva Films. Audiences were treated to a movie-watching experience like no other, as they watched flicks with family and friends under the starlit summer skies of Circuit Makati. Blockbuster hits Kita Kita, 100 Tula Para Kay Stella and Camp Sawi were amongst the crowd’s darling picks.
And what was truly awesome about the festival? Admission was free. Movie-goers simply had to register their names on the entrance booth and voila! they were free to watch all the movies from the festival’s slate of films. Moreover, online trivia contest winners were given free VIP access and a banana bed.
Food tents hawking bagnet and various street food favorites set up shop to delight attendees with post-movie snacks. Those with access to the VIP lounge were treated to good seats and unlimited cotton candy. Movie-goers also enjoyed inflatable banana beds (which could be rented or bought) as they watched their favourite celebrities grace the silver screen. PBO held trivia games in between screenings, giving winners PBO exclusive loot bags to take home.
The weather was fine all weekend, up until the culminating movie on Sunday, Camp Sawi, as audiences pined for the next outdoor film festival in Makati’s premier entertainment district, Circuit Makati.
